A Visit With Caustic Customs

If you’re into track bikes, you may have seen some of Stephen’s work. He’s the guy responsible for custom anodization landing on an array of Phil Wood and Paul bits on bikes coming from Mash SF and other hitters in the fixed gear world. Stephen happens to be on our end of town here in Houston, and when the opportunity to utilize his services arose, we paid him a visit and brought the camera.
.
We were dropping off a set of hubs and a chainring that would go on a Specialized Allez Sprint track bike for a customer. Below you’ll see a “before” photo of the polished Phil hubs and Zen ring as well as the finished product installed on the Allez Sprint Track bike. Sidenote, the frame itself was painted by Spectrum Paint and Powder Works in Boulder to match the anodization done by Stephen. We’ll keep Stephen’s voodoo a secret, but enjoy these photos of his humble workspace and remember them if custom anodization is something you’re after for any number of components.
.
Thank you, Stephen!
